We are a guild of quilters in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. We came together as a formal group in May of 2003, and are now in our sixth year. We meet at the Breed Town Hall and Community Center, south of Mountain, Wisconsin. Each Month:
Special activities are scheduled throughout the year. Feel free to browse our website. The MEMBERS area is restricted to current members of our guild. Christmas Party: Our next activity is our December meeting and annual Christmas Party. It will be held on Monday, December 1. Arrive at 5:30 pm with dinner to be served at 6:30 pm. "Where?" you ask: the party will be held at Water's Edge, which is located on highway 32 on the shores of Anderson Lake (between Breed and Mountain). We are treating ourselves to a sit-down dinner (don't have to cary-in any food).. You should have signed up and paid for your dinner (chicken and tenderloin tips) at the November meeting. Highlights of the party are:
There will not be any sewing session in December. Newsletter is early this month (actually comes out in November.)
Winter Meeting Cancellation Information: We never know what "Old Man Winter" will send our way! If the weather is nasty, and you're not sure if a meeting or sewing session will be held, you may call an officer to find out. For the sewing session a decision will be made by 2:00pm, and for a regular meeting by 5:00pm. You may call Deanna 920-842-2057, or Deb B. 715-276-7085, or Leah 920-855-2731, or Laurie 7l5-276-6l43. If conditions are bad enough that you will not drive, then you can stay home. You need not call anyone. Let common sense prevail.
Quilt Show: Our second quilt show was held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Suring High School in Suring. The theme was "Basket Full of Posies". Watch for photos of the show in the future. President's Challenge: Deanna Tachick issued a challenge to members of the guild in November of 2008. Deanna had a box of sixty stuffed ducks and geese which were donated to the guild by Sheila Hixon. Members were asked to take a duck or goose home and make a child's quilt; bring the quilt with the toy attached or in a pocket to our April 2009 meeting. These children's quilts (for ages to ten) will be donated to the Oncology units at Green Bay hospitals to be given to child patients. The quilts then go home with the children. Soldier's Quilts: Laurie Schoenebeck has asked members if they would make a lap quilt with patriotic fabrics to be donated to wounded soldiers (the guild has done this twice before.) We plan to have these ready by the May 2009 meeting so that we can display them in the Mountain Memorial Parade. We will accumulate the lengths of these quilts as they are finished and report to you the total number of feet of quilts. Clothing embellished with the PNQ logo may be purchased from Big Dog Promotions, (formerly Top Notch Promotions in Mountain) at her new location at 9649 Hwy 32 north of Suring. You may call Sheelagh School at (920) 590-0366. Her email address is bigdogpromo@gmail.com - Come in and try on a garment in which you are interested; she has denim shirts, white shirts, polo shirts, knit shirts, jackets, and fleece garments.
