President's Challenge #4

Oct Newsletter, 2008

This challenge is waddling along and will arrive in November. With so much going on (Quilt Show) I figured we could wait a bit. I can't wait for all of you to hear about it; it will quack you up! Until next month.

Nov Newsletter, 2008

The President's Challenge will be waddling in at the Nov.17 meeting.  It will benefit sick children so I hope you will find it in your sewing machines to give me a hand in helping the little ones who are less fortunate than our healthy sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Dec Newsletter, 2008

Thank you to everyone who has taken a duck or goose to begin the challenge of making a quilt for a child at Pediatric Oncology in Green Bay.  For those of you who did not receive a duck or goose they are gone, but would you please make a quilt anyway?  If you care to get your own stuffed animal to go with it, that's perfectly fine.
I am hoping to get AT LEAST one from every member of our guild.  These children (age 10 and under) who receive the terrible news of cancer will be able to have a quilt with them to give them some kind of comfort.
So once again, will you please find it in your sewing machines and in ALL of your big hearts to help bring a little comfort to these children?
The size of the quilts should be NO SMALLER than 40” X 40”.  Use any material you wish, it does not have to be juvenile.  There is comfort in all kinds of material.
Thanks again,

Deanna Tachick, President

Dec. 2008 - 2 quilts

Jan. - total of 4 quilts

Feb. - total of 15 quilts

Mar. - total of 33 quilts

Apr. - total of 54 quilts

President Deanna Tachick delivered the 54 quilts on Tuesday, May 5th, which are the result of her challenge to the guild for quilts to be given to youngsters in the Pediatric Oncology unit at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Green Bay.  Remember back in November, 2008, when the challenge waddled into our meeting?

Thank you to everyone who took a duck or goose and made a quilt for a child.  Some members added their own stuffed animal, often to match the quilt.
